Core Guitar & Musicianship Lessons
Comprehensive Guitar Artistry & Songwriting (Ages 11 to Adult)
Ready to move past basic tutorials and truly understand the instrument?
Whether you want to shred heavy metal solos, master intricate indie-folk fingerpicking, or write your own original music, these lessons bridge the gap between technical mastery and creative freedom. I specialize in helping developing guitarists decode their favorite genres, master standard and tab notation, and build a rock-solid foundation in both lead and rhythm guitar.
Genre-Driven Technique: We don't practice exercises in a vacuum. If you want to play Blues, we study pentatonic bends and shuffle rhythms. If you want to play Metal, we focus on precision alternate picking and palm muting.
Dual-Literacy Training: You will learn to read both Tablature (for rapid fretboard navigation) and Standard Notation (to master rhythm, sight-reading, and music theory).
The "Writer First" Philosophy: We don't just copy other artists—we reverse-engineer them. Every scale, chord progression, and solo technique we learn is immediately used as a building block for your own songwriting and improvisation.
Reverse-Engineer the Record: Instead of giving you dry exercises, we look at the music you love. If a student wants to sound like an indie-folk artist, we don't just learn the chords; we break down the exact fingerpicking pattern (like Travis picking) and time signature that gives that genre its nostalgic, rolling feel.
Parallel Notation Pathways: Relying only on Tabs makes rhythm a guessing game. Relying only on Standard Notation can slow down your physical progress on the fretboard. By teaching both simultaneously, you learn where to put your fingers instantly while truly understanding when and how long to hold the notes.
Immediate Composition: The fastest way to internalize a new musical concept is to use it to say something of your own. If we learn a new scale, your homework isn't just to practice it up and down—it's to write a 4-bar melody that sounds like a movie score or a rock hook.
